Cool Sunglasses Cake - Bake a 9 x 13 cake and freeze it. Cut
it into the shape of sunglasses. Frost the cake a bright color like pink or blue
and use complementary colored sugar sprinkles, say purple or yellow, to accent
the rims of the glasses.
Crazy Hair Barbie Cake -
Tease and color the hair of a Barbie doll to look funky, place on the cake and
decorate around her with mini hair brushes, combs, barrettes, shampoo - you’ll
find these in a Barbie accessory pack.

"Welcome to Elizabeth’s Beauty Parlor"
sign can be hung on the front door or another prominent
place. Make a backdrop with small white Christmas lights, stars, streamers and
flowers. This can be used later when you take glamour shots
of your party guests "after" make-over results. Or make it simple with this ready-made
birthday party canopy.
Another great idea for this kid party theme is to make "Miss
America" sashes for each guest from 2 inch wide satin ribbon. Write each girl's name on
them with silver or gold glitter paint. Hang over their chairs at the
party table.
Set up the table with a fancy tablecloth and colorful
plastic marguerita or champagne glasses. Add curly gold ribbon around the
stems. Add a slice of lemon to each glass to make it festive and serve
lemonade, punch, or ginger ale for a party beverage.
Make a fruit salad in a cut watermelon bowl as the

Fashion Make-over Costumes -
The invitation states to wear your best dress or
dress-up clothes, so guests will come in their own dress-up clothes. For
additional party fun, collect dresses, prom gowns, bridesmaid dress, skirts, blouses,
scarves, high-heeled shoes, ribbons, shawls, hats, gloves,
fluffy boas,
and costume jewelry,
to create your own "glamour" box. Secondhand stores, yard sales, relatives,
friends, and your own closet are excellent sources for dress-up items.
Hang on a clothes rack and let party
guests pick their favorite outfits. To make clothing fit, just
pull the fabric snug and use clothes pins to hold it. Don’t forget those fancy
"Miss America" sashes in keeping with your fashion kid party theme. Let each girl wear one over her dress-up outfit. Provide a full-length mirror for guests to admire their new "look".
Once the girls are elegantly attired, give them the
opportunity to dance around to the music. This is a perfect photo op for you. Use a Polaroid or digital camera so you can send home a photo with each
guest. Or, send someone out to the one-hour photo with film so you can send home
the before and after pics with your guests.

girls can don their sashes, put on some music and stage a fashion show. Make a
red carpet catwalk on the floor. Videotape it so they can watch themselves later

Make-overs: Have your "beauticians" set up their make-up
and hair paraphernalia in one area. Each guest will be given a special hairstyle
as well as a facial make-over.
Manicures: Provide several colors and shades of nail polish
available for guests to indulge themselves.
Jewelry Making: While the other girls await their
turns for make-overs, have a large table set up nearby with various types of beads
and string so they can make their own necklaces and bracelets.
Variation: Make
edible jewelry
from cheerios, fruit loops, Cracklin’ Bran, etc.
Funky Make-over: Add colored fake hairpieces or spray-on
haircolor and brightly colored hairclips for a really crazy make-over. Give each
girl a packet of hair stuff: gel, hairclips, elastics,
hairclips with colored braids,
and let
them do up their hair...craziest wins a Barbie with colored hair. This is a fun

Before and After Shots. Take polaroid pics of each party guest before and after the
make-over and let them take them home as a memento of a great time. Take a

Make-and-Take Party Favors:
Make-up Mirrors Craft - Supply a small plastic hand mirror for each guest. With a 1 inch foam disposable paintbrush, brush a layer of white glue onto the back of each mirror. A pre-cut length of sequinned trim can be laid out on the perimeter of the mirror. Decorate the rest with glitter and jewels. Dry thoroughly.

Decorative Headbands - Supply a colorful plastic headband
for each guest. Let each guest apply glitter and jewels to their headband.
Jewelry Trees - Buy small clay flower pots, spray paint
silver or gold and fill with plasticene. Comb your yard to find a short strong
twig with many smaller twigs branching off it - you’ll need one for each jewelry
tree. At party time, supply guests with colorful acrylic paints, glue and
glitter. Have guests paint their twig and set aside to dry.
Pots can then be personalized with acrylic paints. It’s a
good idea for each girl to write her name of initials on the pot in glue, then
sprinkle with glitter. When the twigs are dry, guests can stick them in the
plasticene in their pots.
Decorate a Straw Hat - Buy full size or small decorative
straw hats, and various colors of ribbon and silk flowers. Stand by with the
glue gun as guests create their own party hats.
"Before and After" Picture Frames - Cut out craft foam in
the shape of picture frames to hold the before and after make over pictures.
Have guests decorate them with foam flowers, buttons and glitter.

Finger Sandwiches served on a big straw hat. Line the rim
with clear plastic wrap and place sandwiches on the rim of the hat along with flowers to
add some color.
Fruit Salad in cut watermelon
bowl
Easy Mini Cheesecakes
2 eggs
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream
cheese, softened
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Vanilla wafer
cookies
In bowl, mix well eggs, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with
electric beater. Arrange paper baking cups in muffin pan(s) and place a vanilla
wafer cookie in each cup. Pour mixture over cookies to fill cups 3/4 full. Bake
in preheated oven
at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or longer (test with
toothpick - should come out clean). Allow cupcakes to cool before removing from
pan and then refrigerate. Makes 12-16.
Optional: Before refrigerating,
top cheese cups with a teaspoon of a favorite pie filling (cherry, blueberry,
etc.) or canned crushed sweetened pineapple (drained).
Raspberry Sherbet & Sprite - it

Easy Party Punch
1 can of pineapple juice
1 liter of 7 up
1 liter of Hawaiian
Punch
1/2 Gallon of vanilla ice cream
several pineapple
slices
(Variation: orange sherbet instead of ice cream)
Mix first
three ingredients together, add ice cream to melt
slowly, add pineapple slices for a garnish.
Other Beverages: different sodas in
plastic champagne glasses
Chocolate Fondue with strawberries, and assorted
fruit slices or cubed pound cake
Strawberries with whipped
cream
Fruit Dip Recipe
1 lg. container sour
cream
1 pkg. Jello Instant french vanilla pudding
1 small (3.2 oz.) can
Dole Pineapple juice
Cube watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple chunks,
strawberries, etc. Place on wooden skewers and serve with dip if desired
