Spider Man Party Invitations -

Spider Web Invitation - Cut a circle from black construction paper. Trim six shallow semi-circles along the edges. Your circle now has six outer points and a spider web shape. Make the "spokes" of the web by drawing lines from the center to each outer point with chalk or silver gel pen. Make several more lines connecting these "spokes" together and you have a beautiful web! Inside the card, write this:

Join us for Web Slinging Action
at Michael's Spider Man Party!
On (date)
At the web-slingin' time of: (time)
At our "web" site (your address)
RSVP: (your phone number)
No arachnophobics allowed!

Newsprint Invitation - Cut out a square of newprint and paste to the front of your card. Cut a smaller piece of white paper and write these words on it:

Extra! Extra!
Green Goblin's on the loose
and Spider Man needs your help!

Inside Text:
Join us on (date)
At the web-slingin' time of:(time)
Place: Our friendly neighborhood at (your address)
RSVP: (your phone number)
Help put Green Goblin away for good!

Green Goblin Spiderman Invitation - Fold red construction paper to make a card. Make a blue triangle to cover half of the front of the card. Over that, in the
center of the card, glue a smaller green square with this
text written on it:

Green Goblin Green Goblin's back
and he's on the attack!
Come root for the red and blue
Won't you join in the fun,
till our hero has won....
Spiderman's counting on YOU!!!

Use inside text from one of the above cards to complete the Green Goblin card.

Spider Man Party Cakes -

Spider Cake - A great Spider Man party idea for a gooey gutsy filled spider cake... You will need a white cake mix, a container of chocolate frosting, a 4-serving package of green gelatin and two green gumdrops. Bake the cake using two round cake pans. Prepare the green gelatin according to package directions and let it soft-set. Place one cake layer on a foil-covered cookie sheet and cut a round center piece out of it. Place this alongside for the spider's head.

Fill the hole in the first cake with the green gelatin and place the second cake on top, frosting between layers to hold it in place. Frost the entire cake with chocolate frosting (add some blue food coloring to make it black in color). Add green gumdrops for eyes. Kids love this cake because when you cut into it, the green "guts" spill out!

Spider Babies Cupcakes - Frost several cupcakes with chocolate frosting, add small gumdrops or spice drops for eyes, and lengths of black licorice whips for legs. Serve alone or group around the spider cake.

Edible Image Cake - Another great spider man party idea is this
incredible edible Spider Man image for an easy party cake...

Spider Man and Doctor Octopus Spinning Caketopper Check out this really cool cake topper which can become your child's toy and keepsake after the party's over.

Spider Web Cake - Bake a cake and frost it with chocolate frosting. Using white frosting, make concentric circles from the center of the cake outward, starting small and ending about 1 inch from the cake's edge. Draw a butter knife carefully from the center outward like the spokes of a wheel at about 8-10 places to complete your web. Plop a black gumdrop spider with eight licorice whip legs on your wonderful web cake.

Spider Man Party Decorations -

Superhero StandeeSuperhero Standee

Kids will love posing behind this cute superhero standee.

It's perfect to create a unique and memorable take-home photo of each party guest. Add a simple frame that guests can make as a party craft, and that takes care of your party favor too!

Imagine this phenomenal spider web entrance to your party area! Add red and blue balloons and hang some crepe paper in a web-like pattern from the center of the ceiling to the walls. Hang spiders from the ceiling and decorate the walls with Spider Man movie posters or a Spider Man wall sign.

Use Halloween spider webs or just hang string in a web pattern across the top of the room, across furniture, etc. Another great Spider Man party idea for decorating is this spider web border to put around the ceiling of your party room.

Or, decorate a plain blue or red tablecloth by adding strips of white medical tape in a web pattern. This Spider Man table cover is a great alternative...
Attach a special balloon to designate the party child's chair.

Spider Man Party Costumes -

Prepare superhero capes for each party guest with rectangles cut from red felt. Punch holes along one of the short ends and thread one inch red ribbon through for a tie, or use stick-on velcro to hold together at the throat. Red plastic sheeting used for tablecloths will work well too.

Get a container of
glow-in-the-dark stars and let kids glue them on their capes. Provide superhero accessories such as glasses, masks and gloves.

Here's the perfect deluxe Spider Man child's costume for the birthday child to wear.

Spiderman
Facepainting is another fun option. The Spider Man example shown here was painted by Hazel Wood of Jolly Good Productions, UK If this is too difficult, try painting faces basically red, and add a black spider web to one cheek.

Here's a totally unique way to personalize each child's party costume... this special film allows you to print your own tattoos!

Spider Man Masks - Take a simple black mask available at party stores. Have kids make several lines from an inner point on the mask to the outside edges with silver glitter glue and you have a quick and easy Spider Man mask.

Peter Parker Cameras - Purchase an inexpensive disposable camera for each guest. Prior to the party, tape over the lens, flash, and other working parts of the camera with masking tape. SPIDER MAN TO THE RESCUE!!!

**Photos Make Great Party Favors!**

Before the party, prepare your photographic backdrop from a large white sheet. Using light gray spray paint, cover the bottom two thirds of the sheet. Paint the top third in light blue. With black paint or markers, make a series of buildings on the gray area with windows, doors, etc. On the blue sky, add some puffy clouds with white paint.

Spread the backdrop on the floor and have each child lay on his tummy on it in a sprawled-out Spider Man crawl. It will look really cool if they have their faces painted like Spider Man or have Spider Man gloves or booties on. Once the subject is in position, an adult will stand on a step-ladder to snap the picture.

The final result will be a picture of each party guest as Spider Man crawling up the side of a building.

Green Goblin Slime Recipe - Take a cup of water and add to it 1 Tbs. of borax (available in the laundry section of the grocery store). Stir until completely dissolved. Take 1/4 cup of white glue and 1/4 cup of water and mix thoroughly. In a ziploc bag, add equal parts of the borax solution to equal parts of the glue solution. A half cup of each will make a cup of slime. Add a couple drops of green food coloring. Seal bag and knead the mixture.

Note: Store in a sealed bag in the refrigerator when not in use. Please supervise children as this slime is not edible.

Spider Man Party Food -

Spiderman's favorite meal?

Burgers and Flies!

Green Goblin Gatorade - Float the dry ice container in a green beverage such as 7-UP. Or try mixing equal part Ice Cool Arctic Green Apple flavor Kool-Aid with ginger ale.

Here's where the fun starts... place a piece of dry ice in a sealed plastic container. Punch or cut holes in the container lid. Before serving drop the container into the punch bowl. Very cool effect!

Important: Always use caution when handling dry ice! Use tongs or heavy gloves so it does not touch bare skin as burn will result. Do not put the dry ice directly in the punch; it should NOT be ingested.

~ Spider Man Party Idea ~

Bug Juice - Mix a yellow drink (citrus type soda or lemonade) with a blue one (kool-aid). The result will be a radioactive shade of green.

Bug Ice Cubes - Freeze edible candy bugs into ice cubes and add to punch bowl and drinks

Flypaper - Fruit leather with raisins, candy or plastic bugs stuck to them

Web Cookies - Use homemade or storebought sugar cookie dough and make as directed. Frost red or blue and add web design in white frosting.

Bug Buddies

2 pkgs. refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1/3 c. chocolate morsels, melted and cooled
Almond slices for wings
Almond slivers for legs
Cashew halves for pincers
Raisins for lady bug spots
Chow mein noodles for spiders
Chocolate morsels for eyes

Let cookie dough soften at room temperature. Mix melted chocolate into half of cookie dough. To form bugs, drop vanilla and chocolate dough by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate to create an edible insect and bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
